Dr. Nicole Hansen has a PhD from the University of Chicago in Egyptology. She is fascinated by connections between ancient and modern Egypt, with a particular emphasis on medicine, magic, natural history and daily life. She has taught Egyptian art, culture and language at the University of Chicago, the American University in Cairo, and Amideast. She has worked on archaeological projects focused on the royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings, the village of the workmen who built the Giza Pyramids and a shipwreck in the Red Sea. She also developed the world's first online course in hieroglyphs. She lives with her family in a village next to ancient Thebes (Luxor). Just as they say life imitates art, she often finds her life imitates her research!
